I'm thinking about possibly getting a bookport plus due to the y fi and it just looks cool. Currently have a booksense and it's had some issues. Just curious on what everyone thinks about the bookport plus. Also have a vr sstream and it's pretty cool love how durable it is.

what sort of issue you have with booksense?

It locks up sometimes and when I hit the key lock button sometimes it will go on and off at random.

I actually have a book port plus, and here is a list of pros and cons:

pros:
1. detects content anywhere-no special folders
2. wifi-web radio and podcast downloading
3. can add to recordings
4. network folder makes it easier to add data

cons:
1. the recording feature is complicated
2. I, at least, don't like that everything is lumped together, and folders are accessed by moving up from the root (all content) level
3. It supports very few filetypes
4. accessing recordings is weird, as they are one file in a folder of a few; it seems that they just want you to listen to them on the device itself
I'll give more info later if I think of some.

Hit the keylock??? you sure you hitting the 'keylock'? cause, with booksense, the 'keylock' is actually a switch, that you can switch up, which is active keys, and down, which will key lock the kyes.
also, another tip, you might want to check your sleep timer. that can be an issue too.
its under your 'global setting'.

I know that there is a switch and I allways make sure it's locked or unlocked it just randomly locks and unlocks on its own no matter where the switch is set.

I've had limited experience with the Book Port Plus, because I'm really not a fan of audio books, but I did get to test it out. From a preliminary standpoint, I have to say I liked it. It didn't have a completely confusing folder structure and set of key commands like the Stream, and the voice was decent. Both plusses (no pun intended) if I ever wanted to actually buy a device like that if I ever needed it. As far as recording goes, correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't that the one where you can set recording quality and microphone sensitivity and all that stuff for each recording? While that seems time-consuming, I also like that you can adjust those variables more easily than you could with other similar devices. Having said that, I'm not interested in purchasing a book reading device, as I have my Braille Note, and with its Braille display I don't need audio. I just can't concentrate on listening to a book. On a final note, at least the Book Port Plus is much better than its predecessor. Now that thing was terrible.

To Synth101: I've been recommending the booksense to client's for the following reasons:
It seems to have a less complicated interfase then the bookport.
The speaking voice is much better. Isn't the bookport using compact sam?
I'd sincerely enjoy more of yoru thoughts regarding the pros and cons of the device. How easy is the navigation compared to the booksense and as far as the learning curve which do you believe users would gravitate to easier? I look forward to more discussion on this topicc.

I would actually say that the booksense is better. The bpp uses the vocalizer voices found on the stream. I would be using my booksense today except that I was given one temporarily to test, and the particular one I was given was defective. Yes, I would say the booksense is better, especially now that it has a calculator in it.
